This is my second ERGO. I upgraded after having the original to this one because I was training for a walking half marathon carrying my baby and I thought the breathable quality would be great. (I made it to 9 miles before switching to a stroller because my back was starting to hurt). I love ERGOs and swear by them. It is more breathable and I use it almost daily. My baby loves to ride inside and I love having him so close. Three complaints: One is that because the fabric has a little give to it, when your baby is in it, it is harder to access the front pocket and there seems to be less room left after baby is inside. Also, the front seems to dip a bit lower than the original so that took me a bit to get used to. Also, since the fabric is smoother than the original canvas, the straps tend to slide off my shoulders when I am trying to load. That did not happen with the original. Other than that a great carrier.
A friend passed this down to me after they were done with it. My baby didn't like other carriers I tried, but he loves this one. He almost always falls asleep in it, and he normally fights his naps. It is also so easy to get on and off! With other carriers my baby was mad before I got him in them. I use this when I shop, do house work or just need my baby to take a nap when he is being stubborn. It also isn't hard on my back, and I can sit down with it!
I bought this carrier when my son was 5 months old, and I'm not sure how I functioned without it when my daughter was little! I used this carrier on a trip to Las Vegas in the beginning of August. Even in the 100+ degree weather, this carrier was awesome! My son and I were both extremely comfortable while walking around outside in the extreme heat. Having this carrier makes it a breeze to go through airport security, shop, do housework, etc. I never leave home without my Ergo!
Comfortable and distributes the weight on my hips better than the original. Love that the sun shade zips away. Definitely worth spending a little extra for this model.
I purchased this carrier when my daughter was 11 months old. We had used two other brand carriers in the past, and I never loved either of them, so I decided to upgrade. I wore her this weekend for a long day in and out of the city on the subway, and over an hour of walking and standing. She napped successfully in it and I was not sore or bothered by the load at all. She does not like getting in the carrier (both front or back) but once she is in, she is fine. I found the back position difficult for me to put her in by myself. I also find the front position difficult to buckle the back strap. But in the long run, it keeps us all happy. Even our dog, since he doesn't have to compete with the stroller for sidewalk space!
